I say go for it! They self sow like crazy but the seedlings are really easy to pull. I bought one 'Camelot mix' which turned out to be magenta in 2008. Last spring I found more the thirty new seedlings which bloomed in August of the the same year. I keep most of the them.

What if you are a big mulcher? Do the seeds wash down and germinate or does the mulch prevent it?

Well, I'm not a big mulcher. So I can't be sure. But if I remember right the seeds need light to germinate. So you might want to collect and sow them yourself.

I have about twenty 'Snow Thimble' foxglove I planted last year from seed. If you didn't mind waiting, I would be happy to send you some seeds later in the summer.

Redsox, the great virtue of the Camelot series, according to the hype, is that they bloom the first year from seed, hence not biennial. Now, whether they're going to be perennial for you is another question. In my zone (4 in Minnesota) they don't overwinter. So I plant them every year from seed, under lights in the basement, and they put on a good show. I'm foxglove crazy and have a heck of a time with the 'normal' ones (purpureas, not grandifloras). These are even better than the cultivar Foxy, which is also touted as blooming the first year from seed. Trouble with them is, they bloom so late in the season. The Camelots bloom much earlier and better, IMO. GaryStPaul
