Looking at their website the Pros appears to have:

Anti-vibration
Easy Start (probably a compression release?)
Tool-less chain tightening (convenient over time I suppose)

I can't recommend either for anything other than light duty cutting, if it's just some brush and firewood a Poulon will do fine, if you plan on doing any serious felling/cutting save your money for a better saw.

Actually I'm not looking for any recommendations on either of those so-called premium brands. Been there done that.

SAME QUESTION: Does anybody have any meaningful info on differences between the Poulan and Poulan Pros? Are they still made in Louisiana?

I purchased my Poulan Pro Chainsaw about 5 years ago so I donÂt know if this is still accurate. At the time there was a difference in the engines. If I remember correctly the Poulan Pro had a hardened Cylinder and Cylinder sleeve where as the regular Poulan didnÂt have this. It was my understanding that this made the engine in the Poulan Pro last a lot longer.

Yes - now that you mention it - I seem to recall hearing something about the cylinder sleeves on the Pro version on this very forum many years ago.

I don't know about the regular Poulans but I think the Pros come with a case too.
