Generator running in period?

My son recently bought us a really nice generator from Lowe's:

PowerMate Model:PM0435000

5000W running capability/6250W Max Watts-

10 hours on 1/2 load 5 gallon tank

Engine: Subaru 10HP OHC EX30D Model

Sounds nice and from all my searches on web for reviews - They all seem very positive! However, I was told at the local Lowe's store that the engine will require a 5 hour "run-in" period and then an oil change? I searched all rhe manuals that came with the unit but can find no direct instructions for a break-in procedure! The closest I could find in the literature was a reference to an oil change. after the initial 20 hours of run time. Other people have said run-in times ranging from 2 to 4 hours? I tried the PowerMate and Subaru sites but zilch on run in information!

I don't want to screw up on this and would appreciate any and all advice as to a run in period with any precautions and procedure. Thanks.
