SB starter problem

Had a Toro single stage 2-cycle SB given to me.It has a two prong connection for the electric starter.Was not given the correct cord for it,so tried my 3 prong from my 2 stage.Starter is not working.Previous owner said he never used it.Is there any way to check this starter out?

Hook an ohmeter across the prongs and press the switch. You should get a near zero reading if the starter is healthy.
