Now if someone will build a weed whacker for lefties, I'd think I'd died and gone to heaven...it's not starting that's the issue, it's that the head rotation throws everything back at me if I hold it left handed...

Heck, get some advice on how to hold the weed wacker! And i don't see a problem there--they throw clippings back on righties, too!

Yeah, i can understand the scissors trick, as i have tried to use them left-handed, and that doesn't work.

Get over it. Can't see why moving the starter rope over would make a difference.
If you can't pull it, get an electric mower.

I have a Craftsman mower that I did the same with. It isn't so much that I couldn't do it the other way, it's that is more natural.

As for the Weed Wacker, again the natural way I pick up and hold the Weed Wacker is with my left hand back and my right hand forward. This tends the throw the grass clippings, dirt, broken line right at my ankles. If you hold the Week Wacker with your right hand back and left hand forward the material tends to be thrown way from you.

Rusty, when you say, "get some advice on how to hold the weed wacker", we know how to hold the weed wacker it is that it doesn't feel natural. I know that I would prefer a weed wacker that was designed for a left hander.

Is it a big deal to me, the answer is no. I can survive living in the real world.

By the way most items are designed for right handers. A lot of items it doesn't matter i.e. think of a shovel, since it works just as well for both right and left handers. Then there are a lot of items that it is very subtle, i.e. where the pull rope for a lawn mower is situated. Finally there are items that are specifically designed for right handers, i.e. most scissors.

Again I want to stress that I don't normally worry to much about this issue. On the other hand I think that attitude that Rusty and Ed are conveying is rather callus.

Here are some things I could compare it to.

Someone who doesn't have allergies telling those who do that they are a bunch of pansies and should get over it.

or Someone who doesn't need glasses telling those who do that they are a bunch of pansies and should get over it.

Homelite has a bassackwards rotation weed trimmer. It's the one with the red bump knob. It's been a good machine for me but being correct handed I feel awkward using it.It was just under a C note at the orange store.

I voted for Obama and I'm reasonably happy with my John Deere JS63.
