Sounds like either the idle circuit is plugged or you have an intake air leak. Try snugging the nuts under the air filter.

Canguy, thanks for the reply, I tried to snug everything down but there is no change. Can you think of anything else I can try?

On the two adjustment screws on the carb that are side by side (the other is for idle speed) turn them all the way in untll lightly seated and keep track of how many turns out they are and let us know. If they have limiter caps they would need to come off to tell. Put them back where the were after that. Steve

there are no adjuster screws on this carb. You can't adjust this bad boy except to open the throttle (or get a new carb I suppose)

The trimmer is probably still within the warranty period so if you suspect such a problem, suggest visiting the dealer. Alternative -- a call to the company. You might also pull the fuel filter to take a look at it - and/or replace it. It could be slightly contaminated or blocked that prevents a low dose of fuel, but does respond to a heavier trigger finger.
