I'm also looking to buy a rear tine tiller and like to buy this cub cadet rt-65 tiller. I would appreciate any information anyone could give. Please make a reconmendation. Thanks!

Never used one, however, at the end of the day it is still a high priced MTD product. For the approx. $700 or so I would look for a pre 2001 Troy Bilt Horse tiller. There out there in decent numbers. Prices vary upon condition but $500 would get a nice one. I can say that the 1985 model year one I bought for $75 will last me for the rest of my lifetime. I,m 50 and I garden a 25X50 plot each and every year. It will till hard clay. Parts still available, info on repair available at a clubs website. Those who own them swear by them. Its not my only tiller either, I own a front tine, a Honda mid tine, and a Mantis mini tiller. The Horse and the Mantis are the only ones that see any duty any more. People say they dont build them like they used to and with tillers of this type its true. I've toured the box stores looking at the offerings and they don't compare except for shine. But shine wont till it. Ebay is good place to look at prices, different model years, and varying conditions of Troy Bilt Horse tillers. Buy one made before 2001 when it was made by the original manufacturer, or you'll have once again a high priced MTD. Parts for the original are available through many aftermarket suppliers and also the infamous MTD. REJ2.

Kicks out of gear, soil stay's between wheels and tine to the point you have to stop move the dirt and then try to continue tilling or else the tires just spin in place. Soil is dry not even moist nor clumping, I think it's the wheels being to close to the tines and not enough room to allow settling of the soil as it is being tilled. Also the wheels need to spin slower to allow tines to work more. I spent a lot of money for something I should have returned. My old front tine tiller was a 30 year old craftsman and literally will do circles around this cub cadet. Very dissatisfied.

I bought a used Cub Cadet rear tine tiller today. I have had very bad luck with the cub mowers and was Leary of this tiller. I ran it through my garden, I have never seen soil turned into super soft dirt. This thing did a nice quick job. The 5 HP engine don't have a lot of power but still did a good job.
