I looks like information on this chemical for your use is sparse.

Search the internet on "sodium percarbonate" You can narrow the results by adding phrases like sprayers,etc.

There area also many sources for MSDS sheets for sodium percarbonate.

Based on these MSDS sheets and the fact it is a storng oxidant I would look for something else to use.

Um, guys, It's Oxyclean. I don't think I would worry too much about it but admittedly I can't say that it couldn't cause problems, but it is hard to imagine what.

It is Sodium Peroxy carbonate. A carbonic acid disodium Salt with Hydrogen Peroxide.

We use a similar compound in the digestion of organic materials and in the oxidation of metals.

As I understood the original poster, he had some of the 100% material and was looking to use it in his yard.

Per the Oxyclean MSDS sheet it only contains 30 to 40 % Sodium Percarbonate, Sodium Carbonate 55 to 65%, AND it is modified with 2 to 4% alcohol. Note: as stated in the MSDS this adds up to more than 100%

As with any chemical (Arsenic to water) if used for the purpose intended and in the way the product was developed, it is safe. When used otherwise it can kill you.

Thanks for the replies. I have looked this stuff up on the internet. A lot of people are using it to clean their decks. It is also being added to washers when doing laundry among many other uses. After reading the MSDS sheet, I'm wondering how safe it really is.

What do you have the pure material or a formulated material like oxyclean?

If you have a formulated material, Oxyclean etc,, if you use it in the ways stated, (or in a similar way) it is probably safe, IF you clean up the equipment after use. The fact that it is only 30 to 40, means that it is reactions will be more controlled.

If you have the pure material then you are dealing with a completely different situation. The reactions between the Percarbonate and any metal materials in the pump are unknown. This could become completely out of control it the solutions becomes acidic.

We have used basic solutions with an oxidizer to dissolve inorganic pigments, and similar materials.

I have the pure sodium percarbonate. I am not taking a chance so I will not put it in the pressure washer. I was thinking of putting it in a pump sprayer to apply it to my deck, then using the pressure washer to spray it off.
