Another which one

I've been using a LT145 Snapper 38" for about 8 years. The mower deck parts have been a constant headache, spindals, pulleys, blades slipping broken belts etc. The TT trans went out and no one would fix it so I got the parts from TT and fixed it myself, I'm a mechanic.

Steering link arms constantly broke, stamped steel, cheap.

I mow two yards of 1 acre each, numerous trees and bushes, garden beds, and some exposed roots, twigs, 99% flat, with real thick pasture grass and weeds.

So time for a new tractor. I would like a 48" but a 46" would be OK. I have been looking at the Craftsman YT4000, Husq. YTH23V48 and the John Deere La115 and L145. My budget is $2000 max. Not looking at used.

When I looked at the Husq. there was surface rust on the deck welds. Brand new mower. Outside at Lowes. Wasn't impressed with the 6 deck heights. Like the V twin engine. Tall seat.

John Deere, deck seemed thin. Nothing special about the mower other than good fit, good welds and good paint, no rust. Like 13 deck adjustments, wary about electric engagement.

Am looking at the Craftsman this weekend. Not expecting much. They all look good in the store.

I can get the Husq at $1799 + 10% off that. Sears has a sale so it will bring the total down in the $1500 - 1600 range.

The Deers are $1699 and $1999 period.

I have read here a lot about the Husq having the speed problems, but that was back in '07.

Haven't read too much good or bad about the Craftsman or the Deere.

Since the mower deck takes the punishment, what is the opinion of the three decks?

Any problem with the Husq 48" 3 blades, all the others have 2.

Sears also has a Pro Series on sale, 46" any advantage over their normal mower?

Would like experiences. Those that posted about the speed problems in the Husq machines? Anyone have any rusting problems?

Will be buying in the next week to 10 days.
