Check to see if you have a spark arrestor screen in the muffler exhaust area. If so, it could be blocked. Heat with a propane torch and brush out the ash.

Take the mufler off and clean the dirt, clean the exuaust screen.

If it does not help, try close the choke half way and see whether it will help. If this help, put some Seafoam in the gas and run one tankful to see whether you can clear the problem. The carb might be runing lean because of the dirt inside the carb.

Before you put in storage, run the engine dry like you did, then prime the bulb empty and empty the gas again. Then close the choke, squeeze the throtle all the way and pull. This will help pull the rest of the gas out of the carb as much as possible.

I just solved this one on my Husqvarna string trimmer. Last ditch effort before I scrapped it. I had replaplaced the carb, filter and plug, and cleaned the exhaust screen, and did a rough adjust on the carbs.. Was running good, but after a few seconds at full throttle would quit.

I could not figure this one out. Then I found someone online, I don't think it was this site, that said he had the same issue. He said it is the spark plug.A non-resistor plug somehow can send a false cutoff signal ? whatever...

i installed a resistor plug and that was all it took.

I just wanted to pay it back and confirm this as a quirky fix option. Not sure exactly why it worked, only know it did. Saved me one more season before going electric and saying screw it to all of this fun!

The basic cause of this issue was the introduction of ethanol into fuel back in 2009 . The entire small engine market paid the price until the learning curve caught up with proper fuel treatment usage . As for plug use following the manufacturers advised plug is prudent along with recommended gas octane rating minimum of 84 .

True. But the moral of my story was everything else failed. Despite proper gas treatment. The Resistor plug was the cure. Gas aside. That one little trick- not sure whether that was the recommended plug or not- it came with a rebuild kit- was part of the problem.

I never say never , so I will defer to your personal experience within the non resistor plug rational Bud !
