When to replace belts?

16 years ago

I have a JD LA140 and am wondering - when should I replace the drive belt? Every "x" number of hours? Every year? When it shows wear?

Also, is there anything I should put on the belt - I recall seeing stuff called "belt dressing" in auto supply stores...
