Another HFGH question.

Does the 10x12 HFGH come with an accurate parts list?

IÂve been contemplating the purchase of the 10x12 for some time now and have read the threads here and elsewhere. All he threads are pretty much the same; if you get all the parts and can figure out the directions (or lack thereof) the unit is a good buy.

I have a 20% coupon thatÂs good until the 16th of Oct so if IÂm going to do it now would be the time.

BUT Â I wonÂt be able to assemble it for several months. If it comes with an accurate parts list I will at least be able to identify if any pieces are missing and get them sent to me.

Hence my question.

TIA - JerryL

Yes, the last two pages of the Instructions have an accurate set of Instructions.

My parts list was OK but the assembly instructions SUCK
They are on sale now for $599.00 so with your discount it is $480.00 and that is a steal. The $100.00 off sale price will buy all the material to make that modifications to the framing so it comes down to what I have said many times. If you can build things this is a way to have a $3000.00 greenhouse for$575.00 One thing that we should keep in mind ALL kits are a PITA to assemble not just the HFGH
Their has been enough photos and discussion about building the 10x12 HFGH that anyone should be able to build one but I know that some people are just not good at this sort of thing so only you know if the HFGH is for you.

I received my 10x12 a couple weeks ago and have only just gotten started on the base. But since the thing has only a 30-day warranty I decided to inventory the parts and this turned-out to be easier to do than I'd have thought. All the metal pieces were there; I did not take the panels box apart though.

I must say I've been pleasantly surprised at the packing and the quality of the components so far. As gardenerwantabe says "all kits are a PITA"--I swore after doing an ARROW metal building a couple yrs ago that I'd never do it again. Well, here I am... and so far so good!

This may sound harse - but the saying "You get what you pay for" sounds like it really applies to these greenhouses. I have read about all the problems with parts and things not fitting together and not getting good customer Service. Yet people purchase them. Maybe Gardenweb should create a HFGH forum!
I waited a very long time before I could afford a quality GH and it was worht the wait.
    My 2 cents

My 2 cents about the Greenhouse,
I got a Heck of a Lot more than I paid for, but then I have been building Various things from "Kits" for about 35 years. From small model airplanes and cars, to fullsize Kit Planes that can carry people.

One constant that I have run into with any "Kit" is that I have made modifications and or alterations to most of them.

Also I have found that the Kit is the Basic stuff, and you have to purchase other stuff to complete it.

As this as far as it applies to GH kits, I have not found any kits that are complete (Heaters, Watering, Fans, Electrical, etc)

But I have to admit, I would not have been able to afford a greenhouse, if I had to drop 1500 or more for an initial investment

The 10x12 HFGH is not a very sturdy structure if you leave it like it comes to you. Some people prefer to pay a huge price and have all the designing already done for them.
For a lot of people the HFGH would not be the right choice. If you are one who can figure out things or look at what others have done and follow some simple instructions then you can have a quality GH for a lot less money.
people who pay $3000.00 or more think that they have a superior GH but after the modifications the HFGH is probably better than most of the expensive ones.
This past spring we had a storm that blew over big trees and my daughter had a big overstuffed wicker chair on her front porch, the wind blew it over a waist high railing and it went about 50 feet through the air and hit their car. It did $2500.00 damage to the car. My cheap old HFGH had NO damage to it Put the Conner braces on it install the braces on the base it is all outlined in previous posts
People can turn their nose up at my HFGH if they want but it will grow my flowers just as good as their overpriced GH will Whether you should buy one or pay the high price all depends on your ability to build things, but don't think that just because you paid a high price that it will be easy to assemble because all kits are a PITA !!
I have never bought any thing in kit form regardless of price that I did not wind up modifying it in some way
I'm sure that if I bought one of those high dollar greenhouse's I would make some modifications to it.

I bought a 6x8 HFGH kit at 20% off. I was impressed with the quality engineering of the extruded components, and the polycarbonate panels. The instructions really suck, and so do the poor illustrations.I had some components on backwards when I noticed several "this doesn't work" aaahhaaahs! They do have a 1)800 help line.I was missing only two bolts out of about 140 fasteners. If I bought it, I would inventory the puppy right away before your 30 day or thirty feet warranty expires. You can't put some sections of this kit together without two people, safely,or practically. Good luck Sawdustsucker

Thanks for the feed back everyone.

IÂm glad to hear that there is a parts list. IÂll be able to determine if anything is missing within the warranty period.

HF is having a sidewalk sale this coming weekend. Who knows, maybe I can get an even better deal.

    Hi Jerry!

I'm so jealous! You know I ordered my HFGH through the web, along with ONE of the HFGH vent openers (Please don't scold me people! - I just wanted to give one a try!) Anyway, I ordered it 9/25 and today I received my vent opener and on the invoice a note that my HFGH has been backordered. According to the codes, that means a 2-3 week shipping delay (according to some folks here, that might mean a few months - AARGH!) Anyway, Jerry, when ours does arrive, if the weather is not incliment, we will begin putting ours up ASAP. I will let you know and maybe you can stop by and take a look-see. My hubby says, come on over and if you help him, he will gladly help you!

    Lisa,

I havenÂt called yet but IÂm hoping the store up the street has one in stock.

If they donÂt IÂm not sure if IÂll order one.

    IÂll keep you informed.

IÂve got a whole lot of clearing to do not to mention some grading. ThatÂs why I wonÂt get to the actual construction part for awhile. Maybe not until early spring. It all depends on the weather. ThatÂs why I wanted to verify all the parts were there. I can only imagine the response IÂd get if I claimed missing parts 6 months after I bought it.

Once you get yours let me know and IÂll stop by and weÂll struggle over the direction together.

It ARRIVED! Actually, the truck-driver who was supposed to deliver it called on Wednesday to get directions to our house. The highway was closed to Semis because of road contruction, so I drove to town in my husbands little GMC Sonoma to meet him. He easily slid it from the back of his truck to ours with the tailgate up. The box is about 2' x 2' x 8' and weighs about 250#. DH has been out of town/state for several days in a row; that along with the cold weather has hindered us from getting started yet, but it won't be long!
