Perhaps a build up of too much water pressure although this might prevent easy starting. From the Sears manual -- After connecting to water (and turned on), throttle in Fast position, prime bulb 3 times except when hot, position nozzle in the low pressure mode (slid forward), and squeeze the trigger on the spray gun to relieve pressure and continue to allow water to escape until there is a steady stream. Then pull. Also check the air filter.
