My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
WOW ...thanks for posting all the photos!! It is a big help to people coming here looking for ideas that will work for them. You have done a very nice job indeed!! What are you going to grow in there??
This has been a real challege to build, I have done a LOT of research here on the best way to build it. I still have some crossbracing to add. My wife is unable to help so I have been on my own working on it. I did have the neighbor kid help haul the sand and bricks.
The spot started out with a 100 year old house that burned. I tore the house down and have just a small bit of foundation to remove yet, I am removing it all the way down to the footing. Today I removed the sidewalk.
Well for right now I have a Banana and pineapple that will spend the winter in there. And I will be getting some container citrus next year. Plus my own starters.
I plan to use an old Waterbed Frame I have and build 2 raised beds. Approx 3 X 5 feet and 8 inches tall and about 3 feet off the ground. in the bottom of each will be a waterbed heater, and they will lined with heavy plastic, and filled with potting mix. What I have left I will build a potting table.
I also plan to insulate the north wall and 1/3 of the east and west walls and 1/3 of the north roof. For heat I plan to use a forced air furnace out of a camping trailer. I don't know if it works or not I haven't picked it up yet. For water I plan on using a plastic 55 gal drum with a sump pump. For Ventelation ACF Greenhouse has a kit with a 16" fan and 20" shutter.
It takes a while to get it all just right, and even at that there is a lot of tweeking to do, forever I think LOL. I moved into my GH in Feb. this year. So, I don't have much winter experience under my belt (if you want to call what we have here winter). But I learned a LOT this summer. There were a lot of add-ons until I got control of the heat. So, it just takes time to figure out what will work well for you and the plants you want to grow. It looks and sounds like you are well on your way!! Good luck and keep the pictures coming!!
I have updated my website, I still have many pages to go. I will be adding a Forced Air Propane Furnace to the GH, and a homemade 3' X 8' raised Earthbox with a heated water supply.
