Echo String Trimmers

At least in 2006, Consumer Report gave the Echo

GT-200/201R top billing for the average homeowner. Being only 5'7", the 48" curved shaft is fine for me. However, Echo also has a 52" curved shaft with 4.2 CCs more of power in their GT-251SP. The latter is $36 more. There are several reviews of the 200R, but I haven't found anything on the GT-251SP. Probably either shaft length would be fine for me.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge regarding the pros and cons of the above other than the longer shaft & more ponies?

I have always liked Stihl products and the Stihl FS45 was recommended as comparable to the Echo GT-200R. Any thoughts on comparison between these two.

Trimming my St. Augustine takes me about an hour every other week--two hours if I do around all the trees on my 3/4-1 acre lot.

Thanks,

Gailbob
