anything I ever bought that was B@D was a total POS. And their influence on Dewalt shows more and more every year.
I black listed them and encourage others to do the same. If for no other reason than shameless promoting on Forums.

At great risk of life and limb, I will agree with you -- I too have one of these 18 volt grass trimmers and it is entirely satisfactory. The biggest annoyance is the battery charger, it is not automatic. I bought a lamp timer. I also have the infamous B&D pole chainsaw pruner, which has done well for me. The B&D trimmer feels cheesy because it was apparently designed to be lightweight. It seems significantly lighter than the Craftsman 24 volt string trimmer it replaced. Used carefully, both these B&D tools work OK.

No, this wasn't meant to be advertising, I was just wondering if anyone else had such good luck with the trimmer string lasting so long.With Our gas powered trimmers, you're always having to add string. Don't be so hard on a 64 year old granny!

I'm sorry if I was hard on you, I was certain it was more advertizing. Forums are becoming more and more prone to being used to flaunt brands. Employes at say Black and decker for example are payed to go on forums and "push" their products by stating how marvelous they are.
I'm glad you are happy with your new tool.

You have to understand, these are not professional style units. However, if used as designed they work great. I have the 18 volt string trimmer, blower, circular saw and hand saw. I use them as intended and they work great. I too am amazed at how long the trimmer line last's.
