I saw that program too. I use a "Weed Hound" and think it's easier and less messy than anything he was using. I don't have to spend time twisting and pulling, etc. The "Hound" just pushes into the ground over the weed and pulls the root with a small plug of dirt... hit the knob and the plug/weed is ejected.

If he'd have given the trade names it would make finding them easier. Check out the link below for the tools... Good luck finding them.
