In fact this is a bowl/ float style carb even tho it doesn't appear from the outside. I service these right on the machine. Remove the complete air cleaner assy. Then spray the carb down on the outside w/ carb spray. You then have access to the carb and remove the top after you remove the top 4 screws. Also remove the bowl drain on the l/h side. You will need to clean the bowl area, blow up through the nozzel inside the bowl drain hole and be sure every tiny passage is either blown thru with the carb spray or tag wire. You even do not have to replace the gasket if it comes off cleanly. Probably the fuel pump on the front of the carb is fine, but if you remove the cover watch carefully where the springs go an carefully remove them. You basically need to know if the the pump is retained w/ 3 or 4 screws to get service parts. Briggs has parts breakdowns on line that may be helpful. These are great and easy to service carbs.

If you get it running I would clean out the gas tank also or it may just plug up again. You will be amazed what you going to find in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

As a quickie, you might try removing the main jet, ref 117 and making sure it's not clogged.

i would like to say thankyou .i removed the 4 screws and lifted the float and the float needle was stuck.i cleaned it .put it back together and low and behold she kept runing.iwill now clean original gas tank put some new gas line on herand try to run it thank you all
