Tecumseh Carb Leaking from Mixture Screw

Hi, I have a Tecumseh Series 1 carb on a 7 HP Snapper snowblower thatÃ¯Â¿Â½s leaking gas on the bottom of carb. It appears to be leaking around the main mixture screw on the bottom of the carb. ItÃ¯Â¿Â½s not leaking around the bowl nut. IÃ¯Â¿Â½ve replaced the o-ring on the mixture screw and also replaced the entire mixture screw/bowl nut assembly with a new one. Float level has also been checked. Gas still appears to be leaking around the mixture screw. Any idea how to eliminate this leak or what else to look for? Thanks in advance!

The bowl most likely is the cause.

I have found a lot of times that the area around where the bolt or mixture screw goes through can get worn or bent.

Remove the bowl and lay it on a flat surface. Then use a dowel rod (or such item) larger than the hole. Place it over the hole and tap it with a small hammer.

This will make the surface flat again and seal better.

Do you have a fuel shut off? If so, use it, if not, install one. Off season, don't leave gas in the tank, stabylized or not.

Do you have a link showing your direct CarbÃ¢ÂÂs Diagram and Parts List? IÃ¢ÂÂm not visualizing a gasket and O-Ring that I thought control this leak..

Loger..... The small O ring he is referring to is Part #41 in this drawing. It is not sold separately. But rather with a "Main Adjusting Screw kit" Part #40.

The adjusting screw runs through the "bolt/nut" that holds the bowl to the carb body and is used to adjust the high speed mixture on the engine. They are designed this way on most Tecumseh powered snow blowers (like mine) so that you can fine tune it to match the changing cold air temperatures during operation.
