pull behind lawn mower pine straw rake

Does anyone know of where you can purchase the tines for these? My Dh welds so he was going to make me one for mothers day but we can't seem to find the tines for it. I want to be able to pull it behind the mower so I wont have to keep raking it for my yard because of my back.

You need a source of spring steel.

Perhaps msc might help. Google turns up other suppliers of spring steel too.

Some place that sell hay baling equipment should have tines as they rake hay.

Look up a used farm equipment dealer in your area.

They will have stuff you would never imagine.

Thank you all! Maybe I can find something to get us started. Went to Lowes last night and needless to say, I didn't find anything. They have this thatch sweeper at lowes for like 80.00 but I don't know if that would sweep the straw or not. It had tines on it but they weren't very long.

Northern Tool has a 60" estate rake, kinda expensive but they do work. I bought one several years ago to rake up leaves and small limbs. Every once in awhile a limb will get caught in the tines and have to be pulled out. On mine both set of roller tines go the same direction, the new ones are in a v shape, I have to add quite a bit of weight to mine to keep it from sliding sideways when I got into some heavy grass clippings. When I brush hog a lot with real tall grass it tends to windrow the cut grass, I use the rake to put several windrows together and then srcape them into one big pile with the FEL. Now I can use the belly mower but because it mows a lot lower than the brush hog I get a lot of cut grass and I do the rake and srcape deal again, now we're back to regular mowing. The rake it's self wouldn't be that hard to make if you could buy the rake/tine wheels.
Last year I bought a lawn sweeper and use it for the yard instead of the rake, might be a thought for your use. I got the 42" 8.5-1 from Sears and it really works. It picked up grapefriut! Neighbors got a tree and never picks them, lawnsweeper did!

As far as the tines, try Tractor Supply or Orscheln's or any larger farm supply stores. Rake tines for hay rakes are available from any of these sources. I've seen the wheel rake that Northern Tool offers, and it looks a lot like a miniature farm hay rake. I am sure it will work on your pine straw, and as for pick up you can either use a lawn sweeper like you saw at Lowe's or pick it up with a lawn vaccum. Just make sure to put it back for use in mulching beds. Other than it's acidity, it works well for top dressing.

I have the Sears 42" lawn sweeper and it does rake the short leaf needles ok but if they are thick on the ground, the wheels wont turn.
Oh Kevin I do. I put it all on the beds!!! When I started with this soil it was terrible! It's VERY SANDY and will NOT hold the nutrients OR water. :( I started piling the leaves and straw on the beds and you should SEE MY SOIL NOW! It's almost black. This bed hasn't been there but like 3 years now and it's much better than it was. This spring I bought the lawn sweeper from Sears and I piled the leaves high in the bed. The bed is 300' long and in areas it's VERY wide! I have been mowing 4-5 acres now for almost 19 years and it's killing me AND the lawn mowers!! So I started making beds to fill up some of the space. I am also going to plant some of those large azales to fill up more of it. lol I don't want to have to mow but like 1/2-1 acre if that. :) I figure if I can get these beds going and get them filled up with plants and ground covers I wont have to get so much pinestraw each year for them all. I will keep piling on the leaves every year and then when I want to go fishing ;) I can go dig some worms out of my flower beds. ;)
    Thank you all again!
