Electricity & Heating ?

In am in need of some help here.

Last week we had temps drop down to 14, which is most unusual for us. I have two houses one 10X20 & 8X8. They are clear woven poly cover. This is all we need for our 2-3 months or so of winter. In the 20X10 I have an oil filled electric and a fan driven small electric. In the small one a small fan driven electric. Both have fans that run full time. In the big one we have a 12 gage electric cord that I have purchased an additional portable GFI plug to run between cord and GH(big One) both were running off this outlet on different extension cords. The GFI that plugs into the extension cord did not reset. So I feel it was attached to the power source.

We lost power to both houses the GFI outlet from the house stopped working. This is the only thing running off of this outlet. It is attached to a 220 box that is a dedicated line for a spa we have not ever put in.

OK, can someone please help me understand electrical, watts thing. I do not mean to sound @*@% but this is really not something I understand. Both houses dropped down to 28. I feel this was for a very short time, but still.

How do you determine what you need for amps wattage..............keep it simple I am reaching deep into my pocket and pulling out that blond card that I pay the price for every 6 weeks LOL

I will call in our electrician that we use at our plant, but I really need to understand this.

Two heaters fan or two what do I need?

Any help would greatly be appreciated

Karen
