The Craftsman 25CC return for 5 bucks

Well, got me trimmer return on ebay for 5.00 bucks. Mainly wanted it for quick link parts. Course shipping added to the cost total 28.50. The previous owner pulled the cord out of it. So I thought why not try to restring the cord.

HOLD ON BATMAN: I see why this thing wasn't fixed and returned for resale (probably no one could restring it without taking stress leave. Taking about a nightmare.

First I noticed the rewind spring had come unhooked and unsprung. So how hard in that being the spring is still coiled in the little metal housing. started only got a few laps and the thing unsprung. I noticed there was anything to hold it in the little slot. So. I cut a nail drilled a hole set in super glue and slipped the spring over the nail to hold it in place.

Well that worked untill the spring shot out beings I didn't have three hands. Another nightmare is rewinding the spring and getting into the housing. stuck my ice pick in the table looped the center and began recoiling it to get in the housing. had to use a holding clamp to keep it togather while I got it togather.

Now ready to install it into the front cover assy. Of course that wasn't easy either beings if a blind entry and you have to clip the end of the spring in the slot blind.

That didn't work so I drilled me a window in the inter housing so I could snap the spring in the slot with a scribe, string the cord, tie the knot, and let the clamp go! Walla, it recoiled.

Put it back togather removed the spark plug and crank case cover. blow everything out with carb. cleaner, checked for spark, installed the plug and Bang first pull ran like new, why cause it was new. Now I got 3 convertiables two for less than 50 bucks. Plus a bunch of parts now. Still have one waiting on a piston and connecting rod.

I won't be needing another weedeater in this life time!!!!!!!!!! keep thoughs return coming us shade trees can get some use out of them.
