I have a 6 year old or so Redmax and yes it's kinda loud. I thought the newer ones were a lot more quiet? Who makes the most quiet and powerful.

The quiet ones (65dBa) unfortunately have less power with current technology because the rpm's are limited. You need power, wear hearing protection.

Solo 471KAT supposed to be 64.5dB ANSI standard and stronger than Husqvarna 356Bt, Redmax EBZ5000 and Echo PB460. I don't know whether 700cfm and over 200mph are believable for only 53cc engine, but it is the largest engine for all 65dB blowers.

Problem is there is only ONE review. Nobody seem to know this blower.

Sounds like you are doing your purchase by committee yungman. You can agonize over the decision for another couple of months if you think it will help, but I don't think it will change the fundamentals at all.

- You need power to move the air.
- The more power, the more noise.
- All the models you have listed have good degree of reliability.
- The above models have widely varying degrees of support.
- The above models have widely varying degrees of usage.

Get off the proverbial potty :)! Let us know what you decide on.

If the noise really affects you that much and the units that meet your noise requirement can't perform the tasks you have, hire someone with a commercial sized unit to do the work for you.

Personally the noise doesn't really bother me much of course I wear hearing protection. I just think of the neighbors when I run the thing for hours a day (yes sometimes hours.) I'm out there thinking they must be getting p/o'd at me!

You could get a more powerful blower and not run it wide open. My Shin 630 has a "db" setting on the throttle, all it does is block the last 30% (approx) of the trigger movement. By running at the lower speed your equipment will last longer, you'll carry around a little more weight for the power output, you'll have the reserve if you decide to use it, you'll pay a little more and you'll have to resist the temptation. I don't have much luck with that temptation thing.

On some web sites backpack blowers had the nickname "Bad Boy" due to their noise.

I actually have a Redmax 8001. I am not a pro gardener but have alot of trees and leaves to shift come autumn, actualy right about now.

Yes it does make alot of noise, but it is OK if you wear some ear protection. I use those small yellow disposable sponge things AND a set of STHIL ear muffs. I also use the same ear protection when I am running my Honda HRC216 mower too. I find it alot less tiring when all the noise is cut out.

As for power, I think you can never have enough. I think the Redmax 8001 is about the most powerful there is. If you have any more power the weight will sort of get to you. The only down side I see on the Redmax is the weight. It sort of gets to me after about 45 mins of use. Then again I am a wimp.... The Redmax has so far been very reliable and I am on my third season with it.

Have you tried out the Stihl BR blower? I'm pretty sure it has enough power to clean up your yard. I know there were some post in the past about issues with the 4 mix engines, but that doesn't mean all 4 mix engines are terrible. I have 4 seasons on my BR550 and I have not had to do anything to it but fill it with gas. I have somewhere between 50-75 hours on it. I've read about problems with every brand out there, but most stihl owners praise their machines. It can't hurt to try one out. Might change your opinion of stihl. My BR550 is one of the best purchases I ever made.

I have had my STIHL BR600 Blower for two seasons now, with about 200 hrs on it. I use it to blow leaves and grass on three properties. There are times when I will run it 3 to 4 hours at a time, stopping only to re-fuel. I checked and adjusted the valves at 150 hrs as recommended. I use the STIHL Ultra fully synthetic oil, to prevent carbon buildup. I chose the BR600 because of it low weight and good power. Even at my age (73) it is easy to use. I am well pleased with my purchase. Charles Ranheim

Thanks for all the responses. I have been reading a lot of other forums also. I am starting to lean more towards Kawasaki KRB750 which is the same as Maruyama BL8100. Seems the only complain I found is the speed control seemed cheap. But I still have a week before the leaves start falling, so I am going to sit on it for one more week.
