Walbro rebuild X 2 yuotubes, below. I did not see an adjustment of the metering needle arm but I have tweaked to get more or less fuel (related to need). As you mentioned, the gasket assembly is critical to get the metering correct. Please let us know what you find or adjust. I am not surprised at what is shipped âÂÂThese DaysâÂÂ.

I put the original float arm and needle back in, no change. I turned the mixture screws inward all the way, no change. No replacement carbs online that I can find.

What Saw, Make/Model? When did it last run good? Was it a sudden change during a job or gradual? Approx how old is the saw (hrs yrs)? Is there any bad history that might help?

Did you check the basics again? Blue Plug Fire, Mixture Screws 1.25 out from lightly seated, 100 psi Compression, Ck Filters (fuel, Air), Ck âÂÂAllâ Fuel Lines X air tight, and Ck Spark Arrestor. Make sure the carbâÂÂs choke plate is not suck in the stuck position.

What did I miss? Something simple, if you have been Nice to the Saw.

Model 012 AV with a WT-29 carb. It ran and revved up, but as soon as you started cutting wood, it would stall. Adjusting the screws did nothing. I found alot of dust inside the carb, so it was a fuel starvation issue.

It's a 1986 model. My buddy suggested that the old carbs had a check valve inside that might be opened up with WD40. It's under a brass plug and not accessible, but he told me what to try.

You need to remove the lever/spring/needle again, and with the cover off of the other side, hold the carb body up to a light, and see if the passage is open. Since you found debris in the screen it is likely clogged, and the reason it is flooding is because the needle isn't seating. Sometimes you need to polish the needle seat a tad with a cheap q-tip and baking soda, the cheap q-tips don't have much cotton on them and will get in there to polish. Then to adjust the lever height, walbro makes a tool.

Checking for dirt is one of the first things I did.

I do know that this wasn't happening before I took the carb apart. I even went so far as to reinstall the original lever and needle. No change. I will try polishing the seat.
