Take it back to the dealer. They should make it right for you.

I agree. Leave it alone and let the dealer take care of it. It may need a simple adjustment

I just wanted to report back with a resolution of the problem for those of you intrested in a solution.

As is the case with most issues, this was caused by user or operator error. Apparently, I let the sting get too short which caused the trimmer to over-rev to the point it hit the built in rev-limiter. Lengthing the sting made the trimmer slow-down and run properly.

Thanks for posting back with the resolution. I guess I have never experienced what happens when a rev limiter is engaged. I have been assuming that the engine would just not rev higher.

That said, is the starting an issue any longer or was that a misperception? I would not think the shorter line would cause starting problems.

I think the hard starting was as you indicated masiman a misperception. I may have semi-flooded it that time or waited one to many pulls to turn the choke off, etc.

WOW and I thought the rev limiter was the venturi size of the carb. (so much air would only get through thus limiting the rpm)) But it makes sence, I also noticed when the string gets short the RPMs comes up very fast with little resistence... Cours my old junk don't have any rev limiters built in.

It's incorporated into the ignition module, designed to save the engine. Ever watch Nascar?
