I am confused by your use of "door openers", "remotes" and "openers." Let's use "wall control" for the button attached to the wall, and remotes for the units that you carry in your car and not use the term "openers" and try again. Thanks, Don

Don: my door openers, remotes and keypad are working well. my wall controls for both doors have stopped working. the model number is 139.53976SRT and is about 7-9 yrs old.

Strange. I think you shorted across terminals 1 and 2 on the back of the motor unit. Now remove the wires from the back of each wall control and momentarily short them together. Remember where each wire goes. This will eliminate the possibility of bad wiring. If the doors still operate then you have bad wall controls. Strange that both would go bad at the same time.

I shorted the wires behind the wall controls and the doors operate. So the wiring is good as well. The green LED lights on the wall controls are lit whether or not i press the big buttons on them. The auto-light sensor does not seem to work but i can turn the lights on and off manually using the light button on the wall control. also, if i hold down the lock button on the wall control for a while, the doors operate.

it seems like everything is good except the big buttons on the wall controls. i know they are not stuck as i pulled out the plastic with a penny and depressed the smaller ones on the boards. if some component on these boards are fried i would expect it to smell, but that is not the case either.
do you think sears would be able to test the wall control if i bring it into one of their stores?
