my stihl 2 cycle oil has stabilizer it already. check yours.

The Shindaiwa One suppose to have stabilizer also, but everyone said don't keep it for more than 30 days. Anyone know otherwise?

my stihl dealer told me not to add any stabilizer to my mix, but i will probably add it anyways.

Most if not all the better 2 stroke oils say they have stabolizer in them but I have always questioned just how much. I have found rotten 2 stroke mixes in too many engines to believe they have enough to be good for anything more then a month or 2 longer then using nothing.

Think about it, a 50/1 oil mix is about 2.5 ozs of oil to a gallon of fuel. If memory is correct Stabil says to put 1 oz to a gallon of fuel. If 2 stroke oils had 1 oz of stabolizer in them that would leave only 1.5 ozs of oil. Way to lean on oil to be effective. They simply cannot have enough stabolizer in them to provide long term protection.

I realize the 2 stroke oil companies may be using a stabolizer which is far more concentrated, thus requiring less but do we really know? I just go back to my experience with the number of times finding rotten old fuel in 2 stroke equipment where I know the owner was using one of the better oils that claim to have stabolizer in them. They cannot be using enough to say the user shouldn't add some him/herself. It relatively cheap insurance to add your own. Just keep in mind to take advantage of any stabolizer that it has to be added at time of fuel purchase. It is not a revitalizer that can be added after the fuel has gone bad.

Thanks, Is there any compatibility issue of Sta-Bil with brands of oil? I know they claim it will be compatible to any oil. So I said about my magic potion too, it will cure everything!!!!

Never say never I suppose but haven't seen it to be an issue myself. One thing is certain, this is a case when more is indeed not only not better but harmful. Too much will lead to a jell like sludge which is almost as bad as the varnish you are trying to avoid.

Nothing will happen to your engines if you put stabil in your fuel container and mix it with two stroke oil with stabilizers in it. 1 oz of stabil treats 2.5 gallons, so use just shy of a .5oz of stabil. I put stabil in all my gas cans as soon as I get fill them up. I've used Stihl oil, the stuff from home depot, penzoil 2 cycle oil, Roybi oil etc. All of them had stabilizers in them. I've yet to have any problems with either of my chain saws, trimmers, or back pack blower because of the stabil.
