I can't see what style switch you have from the pic. If the switch snaps in behind the control, the control tab will ground it when it is moved to off. The other switch input wires can go to the same terminal for that matter.

Thanks tomplum . The wire to control lever is okay green wire splits off and there is another switch from front of chipper .there is a black wire and a white wire running back to just under carb so I have a green wire a white wire and a black wire that I dis connected when I took cowling off to fix broke en wire at coil.These 3 wires are the ones I don't remember where they go. I will try to get better picture. thanks jim

The connectors on the wires ends and wires âÂÂpointingâ from old set positions should help.

Closer/clearer pics of the ends of the wires and closer/clear pics of their potential connections could help. I had ref to the wires had specific fittings to mate with. What colors are coming from what components could help? Your hand control could help by showing where a wire should be with the control in the Off Position. Some personal owners might need more to see or ref to share more.

Is killing the machine the only issue? If so, w/n just ground out the plug (Old School) until you can get some specific info from MTD or Etc.. I did not see a youtube addressing the issue but if you find one close (relating to replacing the coil), many authors invite questions.
