I don't know the maker of it, but it was designed to be practical, not beautiful, as most things are today!
A man has to buy something that is good looking, curvy, etc., and all of the ugly braces, engines, controls must be made to please the eye of the be-holder.

that said, if the thing runs ok--he made a good buy. It appears to be a good candidate for restoration.

One possibility is the Ariens TA 20A which came with a 9 h.p. Wisconsin. Late 50's early sixties. Can't find a photo tho and most Ariens tillers had fore and aft rather than cross mounted engines. Those usually came with the later chain drive types.

this thing is built like a tank with 1/4" steel, welded joints, heavy duty springs and tines, double v belt drive and solid steel control rods. I contacted Wisconsin Engines and they said the engine was serial dated to 1975.

I am going to use it for my back yard then clean it up with sand blasting and fresh paint.

This thing will last another 30 years easily!
