I have been trying to resolve a problem with a Honda Generator Model EB6500SX. There is a fuel strainer p/n 1239409 that rests in the opening of the gas tank to filter incoming gasoline. The main body of this strainer is made of plastic. I hangs in the opening of the tank by a ridge. A new strainer drops in and can be removed easily to siphon out old unused gas every 6 to 12 months. However, after a couple of years, the plastic body swells up, making it almost impossible to remove it without breaking it. It appears that the gasoline in the tank causes this swelling. I called Honda today to see if there is a newer style fuel strainer, and they said they were unaware of any problems as I described. They only suggested I bring the generator to a servicing dealer to find what is causing this problem. Certainly, it will be blamed on something in the fuel. Has anyone else had this problem? I use an mid-range gas (89 Octane) with Stabil. The next time I replace the strainer, I will remove it right after filling the tank so it will not be exposed to the gasoline for a long time period. Then, reinstall it for the next siphon and refill. The real fix would be a metal strainer that would not be affected by gasoline. Charles Ranheim
