19old! 70's my guess. If look at the Briggs engine #s - the first 2 digits of the code (last set of numbers) will be the year. Depending on which screws come loose, blue locktite and maybe some improved fasteners if necessary to help.

The code stamped on the engine is 19 digits long. Is there a code on the frame itself? or just on the engine? it just says Briggs & Stratton Snowbird S241.

Briggs engines have a Model, Type & Code.
Model will be 5 or 6 digits such as-
90702 or 31P777
Type will be 4 + 2 digits such as-
0123-E1
Code will be 8 digits such as-
YYMMDDzz
YY last 2 digits of the year
MM month from 01-12
DD dai of Month from 01-31
zz assembly line/plant/shift....
