If you don't mind my asking, what are you trying to do by applying sulfur at the shrub's drip line? What are the plants? Aloha

7.5 ph is not very high or alkaline. What is the soil type? Clay or Sand? I would incorporate organic matter around the shrubs and then use sulfur fertilizer when you feed and that would help the lower the pH. Unless you are trying to lower the pH for acid loving plants like gardenias or azaleas then soil sulfur acidifier is not necessary. Even then Miracid fertilizer by Miracle Grow would be enough. Sorry I forgot to add what kind of shrubs they are. They will be Mountain Huckelberries that require 4.5 to 5.5 PH. I can get the already "amended" soil to less than 6 but how do I keep it from returning to a higher value? They will be planted in a hedge row with fabric so working in mulch into the soil really won't be practical. I was wondering if I can add Sulfur mixed with water to each plant when I start to see the PH rise? The soil is a well draining loam amended with plenty of mulch already. I've read that the amended soil will slowly revert back to the naitive soil PH. Thanks for the help.

What I read is that elemental or soil sulfur would not be available to plants for several weeks until it is transformed to SO4. I spread soil sulfur flakes by my acid loving trees and would just apply water to them over time. That worked pretty well over time. I also used acidifier fertilizer every couple of months but at half strength. A lot depends on your type of soil and how it is amended. GL Aloha
