Help me make a decision

I have a hybrid tea rose (sorry don't know name) which has performed reasonably well for several years. This year it suckered from below the graft. For kicks (and expecting some totally different and inferior blooms), I decided to let the sucker bloom before I cut it off. The sucker appears to be florabunda type (five buds at the top of the stem). The flowers appear to be exactly the same as the tea except for reduced fragrance. Since I don't care much for the fragrance (tobacco-y) what would be the harm in letting the plant revert to florabunda? If I do let it revert should I gradually prune away the tea part of the plant? Pros and cons and your experiences please.
