Well that looks absolutely great to me!!! Did the roots look good? Keep us posted and let us know how it fares!

I think it looks great and I love the container. I'd trim off the thin roots that are above the soil. I have a seed grown plant that I've been working on for a few years. What's interesting is the leaves are about a third the size of the plants from the same batch of seeds that I've allowed to grow normally.

Lovely job there! I too would trim the fine roots flush with the trunk, it should be just fine without them and far better to slice them off now before they get too big. Just my own personal thoughts you understand! Nice pot too!

Thanks- good point on the roots. I normally don't mess with the above ground roots but in this case (bonsai) they are undesirable. The roots underneath looked really good.

karyrn, yes I think some seedlings lend themselves more to this sort of thing than others.... I have seen the photos you posted (I think they were yours) which actually gave me the idea to try something different with this plant.

One question I forgot to ask- what do I do with it now??? It would be easier for me to leave it outdoors with its big brothers but is that bonsai taboo? Should it stay inside?

I just keep pruning the stems. It hasn't grown tall but it gets loads of side branches that I cut off. I treat it the same as my others, outside during the summer and inside over the winter. It's been going dormant the past few winters. I water it more often then the other adeniums during the summer. Unless it rains I water it almost daily. With so little soil it dries out very fast.
