Compost does not need any kind of microorganiism innoculant since the bacteria that will digest the material put into that compost already has them. If someone wanted to make compost in less then the normal several weeks this article, from Organic Gardening magazine and the Rodale Research Institute via the Pennsylvania DEQ may be of some help.
One can always find someone that comse up with some exotic way to make compost that usually involvess far more work than is necessary.

There are several threads here about BIM beneficial indigenous microorganisms. Start w/ Why I love the internet...really it's ON TOPIC

You'll also find topics about bug juice which has been used as an innoculant.

My first thought it who has bamboo!

I'm with kimmsr. Why go to all that trouble to save a little time. Make a pile and let it rot!

My first thought it who has bamboo!

Lots and lots of people. It's a rather popular ornamental / privacy screen where it grows.

What is really doing the composting for them is the tropical climate, the fine-chopped material, the soil they mix into IMO #4 inoculates the pile with all kinds of stuff, and they keep it moist.

All I have to do to get compost (dark, rich decomposed) in under a month is to make a pile of shredded mesquite tree prunings and keep it damp ... no futzing around with rice, bamboo, brown sugar or anything.

Best IMO is EM in my opinion.
What in the article is traditional bokashi when rice bran is mixed with soil and then fermented anaerobically under plastic film. Then bokashi is used for top-dressing of compost pile. It's good idea and probably it works. EM is minimal combination of microbes which are needed for "good" anaerobic fermentation. If EM is used then soil is not necessary. But if EM is not used then good soil is necessary.
So, minimal variant for compost used for compost pile's top-dressing is:
1) rice bran
2) soil
3) water
4) plastic film
After 5 days of anaerobic composting under the film it is traditional bocashi. Dry it out and keep for sprinkling organic wastes.
IMO is traditional bokashi. Collecting of "indegenious microbes" has only has only ritualistic sense.
