I spring sow the same way I winter sow. I like the idea of keeping my brand new seedlings away from slugs and "no see 'ems" in my garden. The soil mix I use is much warmer than the soil in my garden, so I am hoping to get sprouts a bit earlier than I would otherwise.

I usually start never tried before plants in pots so I can keep an eye on 'em. Pretty much the only thing I direct sow is perennial seed packs and tried and true stuff like cosmo's. I finally have some "workable" garden dirt so maybe I will try a little more this spring, just to see what happens!

I spring and summer sow up until July using the winter sowing method. The only difference is that I sow the containers in dappled shade and have to watch watering.
