Susan,

Are your jugs currently in full sun? Are they in an area where they'll get plenty of rain if it rains? How big are your containers?

Based on my experience in zone 7 last year, and depending on what you've sown, my guess would be that you will have some sprouts by then. If I were you, I would check the weather forecast before leaving. If it's supposed to be unseasonably warm, I would probably move the jugs to a location where they get afernoon shade if you have any concerns about them drying out. If it's been dry, you might even water before you leave, if warm temps are expected.

Other than that, I would say they'll be fine just staying where they are. But someone with more years of experience may have additional suggestions.

I agree they will need shade at that point. In march I started getting a few new sprouts everyday. As long as you aren't having any nasty dry weather you should be fine with them out of the sun. Those seedlings should be at the sprouting stage and will still need their tops to keep some moisture in.

Move them to shade and give them a drink if needed. They should be fine.
