Well I have no idea what engine you have but obviously did not get the low speed circuit clean in the carb.

CONCENTRATED CARBURATOR CLEANER IN THE FUEL GIVE IT 20-30 MINUTES !

It may be as simple as dropping the bowl and making sure that the baffel goes above the float is sealing all the way around and the regular bowl seal is in place. I pulled that one once with the baffel and had to straighten things out.

IF the engine is OEM, it should be a Kohler K321AQS.

Make sure all circuits are clean, none of the idling screws are bent - they can be bent easily since they were brass. I had this on my 1200 Cub Cadet. Check the float level via the manual's settings.

You may have a gravity feed fuel hose. Make sure it doesn't have any high spots just before the carb. It'll trap air in there, and cause fuel starvation.

Make sure the points are set correctly. Set them with a gauge first, then set via timing light through the sight hole located on the same side as the points cover with this particular model.

Setting points, high idle and low idle is best done with a tach of some sort. They can be purchased about anywhere, and are easily wired up to the spark plug wire. Many of them include an hour meter too, so you get more bang for the buck there.
