Be sure and drain all the oil & fuel, plus flatten the tires before you tie a chain to it and throw it overboard.
Installing a 2 terminal switch whilst keeping the safety systems online will prove difficult and you may have a simple solution to your problem. Murrays tend to have problematic starter solenoids. If you can touch the small terminal on the solenoid w/ a 12 v jumper and let us know what happens. Or test if the trigger wire on the solenoid is live when the key is turned, brake is pressed, deck disengaged etc. and report back.

thanks tom,

ok now we talkin' hey

can we bypass all this so called safety junk? our mowers don't have this safe technology so when a key start plays up too easy to fit push button.

the main solenoid is new or looks new, it seems to have a brake on the flywheel, this bloke can't afford much so i hoped to get it going for him, he asked about a push button start with our riders here yes but this murray is something else.

anyhow we will appreciate all help, i was a mower mechanic but electrics a bit beyond me so we need it simple.

be patient might be a day or 2 before i get back, we are in the bush so town day for appointment ahead. i've whacked the charger on the battery to bring it up.

many thanks so far

ok tom,

we did that friend of mine had multi meter, so we tracked teh power all over the place some of the solenoids already bypassed, so we did other the key start works we have no spark at the plug trying to lift flywheel the way i know how in B&S bit it won't budge, using hammer on one side, the key looks ok, i thought they all would have been electronic ignition when i was mechanic we were fitting them to replace mech' points when plunger bush was warn and oil was coming out onto points.

anyhow it is getting fuel we manged to flood it, never had OHV in my day silly idea plug and lead tucked tight behind the exhaust.

so reckon if we can get ignition spark it should go.

thanks hey?
