Window Treatments - HELP!!

Hi Houzz, We recently moved into a new home, and I am getting ready to decorate my son's room. I have this adorable fabric picked out, but I am not sure what to do about treatments.

Not a big fan of roman shades, since I'll be rolling them up and down throughout the day (naps and nighttime). I'd really like to do panels with grommets, so I can easily open and shut them.

BUT, the left window goes right up against the wall. Can I do just one panel on the left window, and two panels on the right window? Will that look horrible?

Any other suggestions?

Hi Cait, if you want to do drapery, I think it's perfectly fine if it opens to one side only.

One of the best investments I made was to buy plain roller blinds for all my windows. Over the years, I've changed the fabic and style of my window treatments, but the binds remain. EASY to get the fastest light control and great for privacy.

Notice that even in Dytecture's great example, there are roller blinds!

Then if you want to do the panels, you can get by with a bit less fabric or you could even just go with valances in the print you picked out!

Pulling the drapes to the center between windows will look fine.

I like the idea from Window Trends if you want draperies. Wood blinds would give you the ability to control the amount of light in the room, and little hands usually can't reach them to pull on like they can on draperies.

You could add a tailored valance similar to the one shown here, tho I'd put it higher than this one, starting at ceiling height and covering just the top of the blinds.
