Funny Stories dealing with Wsing

Well today I put on a big pot of white beans. Well I love mustard seed in my white beans of course a good ham bone and other spices. Well as I am prepping my beans I was like hmmm I need some mustard seed to ws cause I am about out. I was thinking even of possible trades for some mustard seed that I could possibly do even which forum I should post it on, cause I really wanted to grow some mustard greens.

You know it took me several minutes to realize I don't have to do a trade I got the seeds right here!!

What funny or dingy thing have you guys done while getting ready to ws??

Being brand new to this, my most humorous story is telling everyone that I went searching in Starbuck's dumpster for empty milk cartons. I am sure you have all done this before, but my family thinks I am crazy. In addition, during the whole holiday season, my most common exclamation at various homes is, "Don't throw that bottle away!" or "Don't throw that plastic container away!".

My Sister looked at me Cross-Eyed when I asked for the Milk jugs at Starbucks'. (LOL)

My sister offered to buy me some plant tags when she asked why did I want her old broken blinds. LOL

    We got to love sisters!!

I think we've all been caught rummaging through our neighbours' garbage...

Countrycarolyn, I just took down some old blinds the other day, cleaned them and cut them. They are absolutely perfect! I can't wait to use them. That's such a great tip, thank you.

I'm a newbie too and the funniest thing that happened to me so far is my best friend was visting me one day and I mentioned to him that I needed to poke holes in the containers I had saved. He asked me, in his randomly funny way, referring to the ice pick: "Can I use the sharp pointy object?" I chuckled and said yes. Even friends who think you're obsessed with gardening can lend a helping hand!

I like to use 2 liter pop bottles. Around here there's a 5 cent bottle return on them so we have recycling machines at the entrance to grocery stores. So I'm heading in to the grocer store one day, and I see a 30 something age woman with quite a few pop bottles, and I offer to give her the recycling money for them. She goes right into her own story of saving milk cartons for a school project and wants to know what project with the kids I am doing, LOL. I tell her, "well sort of making greenhouses." She says, "Oh I've heard of doing that." LOL.

Well, today I don't think it is funny but I'm sure I eventually will. Yesterday I got 10 filled milk jugs put outside and this morning, our 85# lab puppy was running into the woods with one of them! She didn't pay any attention to them when I was out there yesterday so I thought I was home free. Fortunately it was seeded with dk blue delphinium and I have more seeds.

Gardenunusual, I wished I could take the credit of coming up with that idea but I can't. Last year there was an entirely different group of peeps on this forum and one person mentioned about the blinds. I thought it was an awesome idea and it keeps true to the winter sowing theory of sowing using recyclables instead of purchasing materials.
