PD is so much the better rose for me--vastly better disease resistance, less balling, fewer deformed buds. Let us hear whether it is hardy for you; I haven't seen any info on zone 5-6 hardiness. (Here we are no longer a true zone 6.)

This is my second AD - on own root, second year in ground, was a band in 08. My first was a Wayside graft, nearly 20 years ago, became progressively weaker and finally died.
All I have done for winter protection on this one was to put a pile of wood shavings on it w/protective hemlock teepee, less than 18" tall, last Dec. Going great guns this spring, canes longer but arching so still not too tall, but looking like a "real rose bush".

The PD was a very small band last spring, in the ground last July 8, no blooms but vigorous growth, same winter protection as the AD, and has had two blooms, has buds to come, and is all of 18" tall and will be getting his first taste of trellis this weekend.
