This is not so much a thing to do as a tip....I once read about putting a rusty nail in the soil to produce loads of flowers - it worked great when I tried it.

I think you need to include tea and cookies in a shape of the leaf/flower, yeah - you are right - make them draw plants on a big roll of paper - like a wallpaper, if you still have time - may be you can order some dvd/slides from AVSA through your club or directly - they have nice materials. May be you can talk about Africa - what animals share the habitat - mountain forests - some rare mountain gorillas? The disappearing habitat in a wild - because of the humans cutting forests and turning the land into the fields - so no Avs can survive in a sun... AVSA encourages people to keep AV species at home to save them and invests in preserving habitat in a wild.

Tough...

I don't think I have the money to order stuff from AVSA, but will research a little more about the original habitat in Africa, so I can include that. I think it will be fun!

looks like the materials are free - but when you return them, they need to be insured for the shipment. Plus you need to give them 3 months notice in advance.

I think some of the materials you can just print out from internet.

My best wishes towards your financial prosperity (we all need it!)

Maybe you could find a word search or crossword puzzle of African Violet vocabulary. You could get a map of African and have them color the country African violets are from. COuld they make bookmarks out of an blossoms that you previously pressed, clear contact paper and some card stock. YOu could also show them potting up and potting down. I used to teach and 90 minutes is a long time to fill but I'm sure you'll do fine.

Make sure you have plenty of "hands on" time. Most kids will get bored with a long letcure. Maybe have them mix their own potting soil for the av's. Very nice of you to volunteer for the project.
