They stop growing. Neither of those will be harmed by freezing temperatures at least down to the upper single digits. I sowed both last year and had sprouts during our coldest period of 8 degrees overnight for several nights.

Thank you token, I was worried they would die when we freeze again. We usually have mild winters but this winter has been colder than normal. Now I can do the happy dance!

Wow. Running out to check my lupine now even though I'm sure it's been only been in the 40s here. But it's nice to know it can survive a return to the real cold weather we had a week ago.

OK. Here it goes. Zone envy. Do you all realize that those of us in those zones that actually have REAL SEASONS won't have sprouts for 3-4 MONTHS?!?! Heck, we can still wintersow seeds that need months of cold stratification! So there! Nah nah nah nah nah. Seriously, though. Congratulations on your sprouts. It really is exciting,isn't it? I'm so jealous.

Happy dance time! I have sprouts, too - Baby Blue Eyes and Penny Blacks. My happy dance probably looks a little comical with the gimpy leg, but I'll limp through it. Whee!!
