This is my first year of winter sowing. I am in the frigid air with you right now! How long have you been winter sowing? I have mostly planted perennials for our area. I am afraid to try annuals. Have you sowed annuals with any success?

Could you keep garlic chives from re-seeding? I don't think so and I have cut tons this fall to cull them back. Thank goodness they are beautiful fall flowers, cool winter interest, and tasty as can be. I love them for their beauty in my beds and their flavor in my soups, salads and casseroles. Potatoes love garlic chives.

I haven't seen garlic chives at all in MT. I thought they were temperamental? Basic chives grow well up here, though. Good luck! My best suggestion is use half the package now, half later when you feel it's safer.

A little off topic here but I sowed my garlic chives in a pot in spring last year and they did beautifully. I agree with prairiewinds just sow half a pk and do the rest later. I am in my first season of WS and am anxious to see if all the claims for it are valid. Can't wait to see my sprouts but it's a while away because of the deep freeze we are it. Actually I hope mine don't sprout until March. BTW so far I have only WS'd perennials.
