Could you please tell me the size of the cabinets including the lighted upper? I have 9' ceilings. Thinking of doing 31" on the bottom with lighted cab's on top 15". Bringing the cabinets with the crown to the ceiling. It is a u shaped kitchen 14 feet wide and 26 feet long (that includes the eating area). Do you think it would be over kill to do lighted cabinets of this size all around the kitchen?

The cabinets in the picture have upper doors that are 12"H not including face frame. I would sugest you have your cabinets drawn to scale along with any crown or face frames included to see if the proportion looks right. 31":15" might be OK but you might find that something like 34":12" is more pleasing. Just have your cabinet maker/ designer stretch it and see what's pleasing to your eye. A scaled drawing will reveal if it's right or not.

My ceiling is 10' high. Cabinets will go to the ceiling with an exception of the crown molding. Kitchen designer is offering nothing as far as size of the cabinets. I have seen cabinets with 30 on the bottom and 18" on the top and it looks good. This way you are really able to see what ever you have placed in lighted cabinet area. At this point we have given a deposit and the owner of the design center seems overworked and stressed. He forgets what he says, doesn't return calls and snaps at me. What can I do to make sure this is going to look ok? Too late to get my money back I already paid for half the cost.
