You could try just adding salt as a treatment and raising the temperature in the aquarium as a first step. But you really should treat the ich before it multiplies and causes a great deal of physical harm to your fish. Sometimes if the Ich is really bad, even after you have killed them off, the fish still die from infections. So it is best to get rid of them as soon as you spot them.

I collected some drippings from the filter media today .. it was quite full of life ! Can't honestly say if any of the beast were Ich related .. under 400X magnification I spotted two moving organisms .. one moved in a straight line and tumbled like a foot ball and was medium sized .. still anothjer was much smaller .. almost hard to see moved more in small circles. Another object was circular and much larger then the other two .. perhaps a cyst of Ich .. after the fish phase ??

My local aqauarium store where I purchased the fish suggested raising the temperature to 86 F .. I'm now at 78 F .. and treating with 12 drops Aquari sol per 10 gallons of water a Copper Sulphate solution daily for seven days.

Interestingly .. three of the 5 spots on my Serpae tetra were gone today ? Burst I presume and enetering into the next phase ?

I have an infestation in my own aquarium right now. I've disconnected my cannister filter, raised the temps, - The guidelines recommend 82 F. & I started treating the fish with Super Ick Cure - w/c contains Benzaldehyde Green and Povidone/Colloid Mixture. It's suppose to produce a protective coating. It was also suggested by that we treat the fish with anti fungus meds. to prevent a secondary infection. The process will be repeated in 48 hours.
