very cool photos!! How large are they and how big a tank?

They're just babies. The bichirs and marbleds are about 4" each and my violets are 6-7". The tank is 40 but it's a stock tank so it's got aprox. 2'x3' footprint. Plenty of room for everyone to have their favorite spots right now. I'm going to have to build an 8'x2'x2' tank for the gobies. I *think* the bichirs should do okay in a 100 gallon stock tank. I am going to have to seperate them as the bichirs only get half what the gobies do and would eventually be lunch.

So do you like... have concrete floors to support all the weight of your tanks?!! LOL

Are you planning on breeding them?

Yep. My whole house is just on a slab so I could put a tank anywhere there's space;) The only real problem it presents is you can't syphon.

Neither of the gobies have been bred in aquaria (the marbleds are bred for food fish in Malaysia ect but those are big mud ponds). There are no external differences on the sexes of either.

The bichirs though are another story and I'm pretty sure I got a boy/girl pair..I might add another female just to make sure.

Will they be growing a whole lot bigger? And do they always get live food? I'd love to have huge tanks, but the floor won't hold all that weight! LOL That's why I have a pond outside. I don't have to worry about the weight them. :)

The marbleds always get live food. The others like frozen blood worms for now. The violet gobies will always eat frozen foods (despite their mouth size they have small throats) but the bichirs will eventually eat other fishies they do try to choke down the red wigglers already. If I keep then together the marbleds diet would include bichir though ;)

Bichirs: 12-14" (now only 4")
Marbled gobies: 24"+ (now 4")
Violet gobies: about 22" (now 6-8" one is smaller than the other)

uh oh... good thing you have a slab floor! Maybe you'll be putting up a larger tank than 100??! ;)

100 gallons for the bichirs and an 8x2x2 (240 gallons) for the gobies I'd go bigger but I've been assured this should be okay for my four and I'll be sitting on a homemeade aquarium to watch tv if we go much bigger ;)....With some fish floor space is more important than the actual gallonage.
