I stared a compost pile in the summer and it's done composting. First time composting "soooooooo proud of myself" I have two more piles going now with straw, coffee grounds, and steer manure.

Question, in the next few weeks our leaves will start falling,can I add the shredded leaves, coffee grounds, and what ever I can lay my hands on to the finished pile to make it even bigger, or should I just cover the pile up from the elements and wait till the spring to use it.

My fear is that a finished compost pile will not heat up again after it's done composting especially in Northern Utah where our winter temps can be brutal.
