It depends what you consider a lot, but in my experience Tin Foils are voracious. I've fed mine flakes, pellets, frozen you name it. They'll eat 'til their bellies bulge...and probably more! They grow wicked fast too. What size tank are they in? What else is in there with them?

I have a 55 gallon tank. I have the two barbs. 4 small discus. 2 small bala sharks. 4 mollies and a pleco suckerfish. I just dont know how much they should be eating. They are a pretty large.. so im just not sure how much is enough. (I know the discus are supposed to have 4 worms a piece for example.) Can anyone help? Also.. will the barbs and balas keep growing up to 14'? Or do they grow to their environment?

Umm... I'm not certain how folks at this forum feel - but I don't think you should keep them in the 55 in hope to stunt their growth. I believe they'll still grow large and still be too big for your tank. So you may need to trade them in for other fish.

I've always wanted to keep discus, but I'm too afraid to try because of their required water conditions!!

Damn those barbs.. I came home yesterday and one of my gouramis and mollies were dead.. and the whole aquarium was in disarray. Needless to say I took the fish back.. I got 2 kissing gouramis, 2 dwarf puffers and 4 more mollies instead. Now the community is working just fine. I hate barbs! :( Discus are very easy to take care of if you get them when they are young. Thats what we did. They are growing and since they are small, they tend to be a lot more hardier and tolerant of less than perfect water conditions. You should try a few. They are the best. By far my favorite so far!

Ocean!! Kissing fish are VERY aggressive and will grow BIG, too!!

And dwarf puffers are nippers! (plus most puffers need brackish water)

However, it is nice when there's a good balance going in a community tank. But do beware of those kissers. They're not really "lovers"!!

I have noticed they are no more aggressive than my other gouramis. No visible problems so far. Everyone seems to be getting along fine. Ive heard that the puffers wont nip unless hungry? Ill have to keep a close watch!

Puffers really are usually only suitable for a species tank. I've never actually had one but if you go to fishforums.net and look in the oddballs institute for lots of puffer questions.

The mollies need hard water with some salt while the discus need soft water. The dwarf puffers will nip at some time and while they only grow to just over an inch they just take smaller nibbles.
